In the summer of 1998, the Hardcore Wrestling Organization was formed by A retired AWF Heavyweight Champion named Rampage. Soon after its opening, Rampage recruited such talents as The Ironmen Rage and Psycon from the Neighborhood Wrestling Organization (NWO), and Genocide and the Hardcore Icon from the Khaotic Wrestling Federation (KWF). Since then, Rampage has brought in champions like Hardcore Gangsta, Justin Sane, and No Gimmick John Hoskins. Hwo often experimented with talents from other organizations and even placed fans in the ring against their most hated wrestlers. Hwo gave several opportunities to wannabe wrestlers in the "Beginners Battle Royal". Some wrestlers were even given Hwo contracts for a short period of time like MVP, Corporal Punishment, The Fan, and Inmate #4156. After 3-5 matches the wrestlers were released.
